Movie review: The Hunger Games Catching Fire

In my opinion the movie catching fire was not as well received as the first one.  I think this because even though I am in middle school, no one at my school  or any of my friends  really raved about the second movie  as much as the first one.  I am not saying that the movie was a horrible sequel, it just did no suit up to  its  expectation  as the first movie.

Some other negative points I found in this movie were the following:

  • I felt like the scene where they where in the quarter quell, was very short and felt rushed, thus, making the movie watcher feel confused.
  • In addition, they left two parts out of the movie that was in the book.  The first part that they left out was where at President Snow's party, Katniss was dancing with the new game maker, Plutarch Heavensbee, when he takes out a pocket watch, with a symbol of the mocking jay, and says  ''At twelve o'clock".  I felt that this scene was very important and a  big clue to the games.  The last scene that I found was missing was that again, when Katniss was at President Snow's party.  In this scene, in the book, Katniss was upstairs in the President's house to find a room full of video footage showing  the destruction  in the districts.  But instead in the movie she saw the footage on the train, that was moving Peeta and her to the Capital. It does not make sense to me that the footage would be on the train and not in the President's house.
Yet with many negative points there are much more positive ones.  This movie had the movie watcher immersed in Katniss's and Gale's hard, yet confusing, love relationship, heart pounding conflict, and action-packed games.  Another thing that I loved about this movie it was how it played out in the end. It was surprising, and when I read the book, I thought it was a well thought out plan from the beginning.

In conclusion, I recommend this movie, and I give it four stars out of five.
