In the graphic noveal Smile,  written by Raina Telgemeier, Raina a normal sixth grader  was about to get her braces  on, like every other middle schooler does eventually. Then, if that was not bad enough, one night she tripped  and fell , resulting in her two front teeth being knocked out.  To Raina , this was a tragedy, which later resulted in painful braces , surgery, and headgear! Gross! But as Raina entered middle school, she soon learned that braces were not the only thing that hurt but , drama like frenemies , boys, and bad grades were also very painful. Will Raina ever get her two front teeth back , and a life with out wires? Writer Raina Telgemeier's Smile has a mesmerizing story behind her detailed drawings. In addition, she shows an accurate  point of view from a middle schooler and what problems she faces. The author also gives realistic problems in a middle schooler's life like drama with boys or  bad grades.  I recommend this book to an age group of between probably 3rd grade or above.
